Food Lion supports Fairgrove pantry
The Food Lion Charitable Foundation grant will enable our center to continue offering quality food to hungry families in the Thomasville area. We appreciate Food Lion's generosity and encourage others to support the businesses that give back to their community to improve the well-being of the families living there. See story here.

Due to road construction, E Holly Grove Road now has a detour. From the 4 way stop sign, turn on Fisher Ferry St going towards town and follow the detour signs down Lake Road and back to E Holly Grove Rd. Turn right on E Holly Grove Road and the 3rd street on the left is Myrtle Drive.
I am very grateful for the service and programs provided by Fairgrove Family Resource Center. They have provided my family with invaluable information that benefits us in so many ways. I think many families I know would benefit from taking parenting classes.
New Parenting Wisely Class to start in February
Parenting Wisely is a program that teaches parents important parenting and conflict management skills in an entertaining manner. The program covers the following topics:
- communication skills
- speaking respectfully
- assertive discipline
- physical aggression
- problem solving skills
- stepfamily problems
- monitoring and supervision
- chore and homework compliance
Situations are highly relevant. The parent is in control and makes many choices and receives interesting, detailed feedback after each response. Effective and ineffective parenting methods are demonstrated. Use of the skills learned reduces family conflict, clearly diminishing verbal and physical aggression between parents as well as between parents and children. This 7 week class begins February 16, 2012. A FREE meal and FREE child care is provided. There is never a charge for our services. Call 472-7217 today for more details and to register for this class.
** New Group** Circle of Teen Parents
Circle of Teen Parents provides a weekly supportive environment for parents who were or are 13-19 years of age and a parent. We will share the stresses, challenges and successes of parenting. Here you can connect with other parents for peer support and problem solving while fostering a sense of extended family for participants.
We will learn new parenting skills and offer opportunities for parents to increase their leadership abilities. Pre-registration is required to attend the group, dinner and child care which are FREE. For more information, call Julie Stevens at FGFRC 472-7217.
